About Me

Welcome, my name is Brian and I am an avid amatuer astronomer with a passion of sharing the wonders of the night sky with others. Follow my journey as I share with you my techniques in astrophotography, equipment reviews, and live streaming electronic assisted astronomy.

My goal is to share my knowledge with beginners to the hobby as well as those who have perused the hobby for a lifetime.

My first real attempt into the world of astrophotography took me on an adventure to purchase a 8” Newtonian Reflector, guide scope, and a mount. I first started out using the SLR that I had already a Sony A55, which served me well until I decided to upgrade to a dedicated cooled astrophotography camera. This changed everything for me, with the ability to now control the entire setup from a computer gone were the days of filling up a memory card, fumbling with the hand controller and setting up guiding with a pc.

Little did I know this was just the beginning, I became more active in my local astronomy club, first just setting up my scope up for visual observing during star parties. Engaging with our guests and sharing the night sky with them. Later on, I started dabbling in with electronically assisted imaging which allowed me to show some of the more faint objects to others.

This fueled my passion of sharing the night sky with others, shortly after I began training on the two telescopes at one of the clubs observatories. This allowed me to even further share my knowledge of the night sky and its mysteries with others. Being able to see the excitement when others see a star cluster for the first time, or the look of amazement after showing someone another galaxy through the telescope and explain that they are looking into the past.

Over the years assisting with star parties has given me the opportunity to learn even more about the wonders of the universe, and has allowed me to share with with many people.

Fast forward to today I am currently serving as the Director of the observatory and am starting down this new journey of sharing the universe online with the world. I hope that you will join me where we can learn from each other, and never forget to always look up at the night sky, you never know what wonders await you.

Always look up at the night sky, you never know what wonders await you.
